Repairing & Retrofitting
Retrofitting adds new features to older buildings, heritage structures, bridges, and other structures. Retrofitting reduces the vulnerability of damage to an existing structure during a near-future seismic activity. Retrofitting in structures is done to increase the survivability of the structure. However, from the Civil engineering perspective, The Retrofitting term may be referred to as Seismic Retrofitting. It is modifying existing structures to make them more resistant to seismic activity, ground motion, or soil failure due to earthquakes.
